Huber Engineered Woods Introduces ZIP System™ liquid flash
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 4, 2013) - Huber Engineered Woods LLC, a leading manufacturer of innovative building solutions, announces the launch of ZIP System™ liquid flash, a liquid-applied flashing membrane engineered for sealing irregular, curved or hard to flash areas.
ZIP System liquid flash will complement ZIP System™ tape, both of which help transform ZIP System® roof and wall sheathing panels into a seamless protective barrier against moisture intrusion and air leakage. “ZIP System tape has proven to deliver a superior air and water seal that resists harsh elements and will still be the preferred flashing method for seam sealing,” said Charlie Robinson, General Manager of ZIP System sheathing. “With the introduction of ZIP System liquid flash, we are offering another option for areas that can sometimes be more difficult to seal.”
ZIP System liquid flash is a liquid applied flashing membrane that comes in 20 oz. sausage tube or 29 oz. cartridge and spreads easily with a ZIP System spreader or a sausage gun (sausage tubes) or caulk gun (cartridges). The product flows freely to seal difficult areas, such as rough openings and wall or roof penetrations. ZIP System liquid flash bonds and cures in wet weather and on damp substrates, becoming waterproof shortly after installation, which enables fast rough dry-in.
Huber Engineered Woods offers the same industry leading warranty for ZIP System liquid flash that professionals have come to expect when using ZIP System tape and ZIP System roof and wall sheathing-- a 180 day exposure guarantee and a 30 year full system limited warranty. “Combined with ZIP System tape, the introduction of ZIP System liquid flash allows Huber to offer two great products that achieve a total sealing solution,” said Robinson. “As energy codes become more stringent in commercial and residential construction, it is more important than ever to build an air-tight home. Our testing shows that it is easy to achieve an air barrier in the wall cavity when using ZIP System sheathing and tape or liquid flash. With our tape and liquid flash products, we are offering the builder and architect an easy way to stay ahead of the energy codes while potentially providing the homeowner with a lower energy bill which could put more money in their pocket.”
About ZIP System Roof and Wall Sheathing
ZIP System roof and wall sheathing consists of structural panels with built-in protective barriers rendering its predecessors, like traditional housewrap and felt, obsolete. The seams of the roof and wall panels are sealed using ZIP System tape or ZIP System liquid flash, providing moisture resistance for seams, valleys and ridges, ultimately reducing the occurrence of air leaks. ZIP System tape is code recognized as a window and door flashing tape when used with ZIP System wall sheathing (ESR-2227). ZIP System roof and wall sheathing is faster to install than traditional methods and provides an instant 180-day rough dry-in, allowing builders to schedule subcontractors sooner and ultimately reduce cycle time. ZIP System sheathing is now available with continuous foam insulation that delivers an R value. Ask for ZIP System® R sheathing if you are interested.
